From NASA they confirmed that they will carry out a simulation in order to verify the operation of the space rock deviation technology that they are developing.

NASA will destroy a fictional asteroid that will hit Earth (in a few months).

On October 20, NASA will test the asteroid deflection technology it has been working on for several years. Together with the space agency ESA, they will carry out a simulation in which they will deflect a fictitious object that is heading towards Earth.

With this drill they seek to give a boost to the Double Asteroid Redirection (DART) mission that aims to deflect a space rock for the first time in history.

The asteroid used for this simulation will be 2021 PDC, which was discovered in Hawaii on April 19 and will pass 57 million kilometers from Earth on October 20.

Lindley Johnson, NASA Planetary Defense Officer, said: "Every time my team participates in an exercise of this nature, we learn more about who are the key players in a disaster event, who needs to know what information and when." .

In turn, the American company TransAstra is working on the Sutter Ultra project, which will be able to locate and follow asteroids five kilometers in diameter 400 times faster than any other current detection system. The ultimate goal of Sutter Ultra is to build systems that allow humanity to expand into the solar system.

Months ago, NASA shared the first sounds of the planet Mars . This recording was made during the landing of Perseverance, a vehicle which managed to carefully position itself on one of the many craters that the immense red planet has.
